THE ROAD’S BEST DRESSED ICON

The R 18 Transcontinental offers you exclusive and luxurious traveling. As a member of the R 18 family it represents BMW Motorrad’s tradition and is deeply rooted in the here and now: its unmistakable front end with the tall windscreen and the mighty Big Boxer promise a comfortable, powerful ride for miles. The automatic load compensation feature accurately adapts the chassis to the load applicable to the motorcycle. And thanks to it being prepared for customizing you can define your R 18 Transcontinental according to what you will discover on every trip: yourself. Simply put: classic #SoulFuel.

FEATURES
    Power Reserve

Convenient, luxurious and consistent: the Power Reserve display of the R 18 Transcontinental shows how much power you still have available.

    Marshall Gold Series 2

The optional, powerful 180 watt amp powers a total of six speakers: for maximum sound quality and absolute audio pleasure.

    Cockpit

Four traditional, analog round instruments combine with one modern 10.25” TFT display: from the fuel level indicator to the navigation system and your playlist, it provides you with all the relevant information at a glance.

    Active Cruise Control

With the new available ACC, your bike maintains your desired speed, via a radar sensor, and distance from the vehicle in front of you.

    Passenger seat

The particularly comfortable passenger seat features heating as standard and offers outstanding stability. The backrest has been seamlessly integrated into the adjacent topcase.

    TFT display

Plenty of space for plenty of information. From map navigation to vehicle data and your playlist: easily keep an eye on everything thanks to the 10.25” TFT display.

    Front fairing panel

The front fairing that has been installed on the forks provides you with ideal protection from the elements in conjunction with the tall windscreen. The two LED additional headlights remain true to the original style and perfectly integrate into the R 18 Transcontinental’s lines to lend it an unmistakable look.

    Wind deflector

Wind deflectors and the tall windscreen make sure that wind will not bother you too much.

Strength is born from calmness – and from each mile along the way

You already realize why the Big Boxer is called exactly that when you start it up. You can feel the vast displacement on every mile along the way. With its typical boxer power development you can rely on at minimum 111 lb-ft between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. The impressive torque and responsiveness provide fully fledged pleasure in the long term – relaxed, but never boring. And the exposed, nickel-plated cardan shaft demonstrates just how much history we have packed into these 1802 cc. What now? Time to write your own history.

Eating up the miles in a relaxed and confident way

You can comfortably eat up the miles on the R 18 Transcontinental: Dynamic Cruise Control (DCC) and optional Active Cruise Control independently control the speed and the distance to the vehicle ahead. Furthermore three Ride Modes, Automatic Stability Control (ASC) and dynamic engine brake control (MSR) aid control. The optional Reverse Assist, Hill Start Control and the central locking system for cases and topcase provide even more convenience.

We understand that a used BMW motorcycle for sale may not be your first choice when thinking of buying a bike. But before you splash out on the latest, state-of-the-art models, check out why a second-hand machine may be a better option for you.

    Save Money

Used motorcycles are less expensive than brand-new ones. Choosing a 12-month-old model instead of a new bike can save you thousands of dollars. With a used model, you won’t have to pay extra costs like registration and road tax since the previous owner would have covered all the additional expenses. Plus, you will save on insurance, as this cost is typically based on the vehicle’s purchase price.

Used Motorcycles Are Great for Learning

If you are looking for a bike to learn on, a used motorcycle is also a better option than a new one. Chances are that you will drop your machine many times before you get the hang of bike riding. So, you will be less worried about scratches if your motorcycle costs $5000 rather than $20,000. You may also want to buy a more powerful bike once you complete your training, so it will be better to spend less on your first motorcycle and start saving up for its replacement.

    Make a More Informed Purchase

Second-hand motorbikes have been around for a longer period of time than new ones. This means that more people have tested and used these old models. So, you are more likely to find more reviews and other helpful information about your preferred used bike than if you are buying a brand new one.

    Get Free Upgrades

A lot of riders like to personalize their motorcycles to their taste. So, they fit their machines with aftermarket accessories to enhance their look, safety, and performance. When you buy a used motorbike from a previous owner, you will also get all these upgrades, usually at no extra cost. So you will not have to go through the hassles of looking for compatible accessories and installing them on your motorcycle.

    Better Return on Value

Although all vehicles reduce in value once they leave the showroom, new motorcycles depreciate more quickly than used ones. A brand-new bike loses half of its value within five years of purchase. So, if you intend to sell your machine in the future, you are more likely to receive a better return on your pre-owned model than if you purchase a new one.
